Where do Dunbar riders do their motorcycle training?
The A1 is dual carriageway from Dunbar to the Edinburgh bypass, so it is a quick, predictable run with no towns to go through. Riders from East Linton and Belhaven use the same route.
Learner riders cannot use motorways, but the A1 here is not one, so once you have your CBT you can ride it on a 125cc with L-plates. For the coast road and the Lammermuirs on a bigger bike, Direct Access gets you a full licence.
How do I get to the training yard from Dunbar?
From Dunbar, take the A1 west, then the A720 bypass to Straiton. It is about 29 miles and takes about 40 minutes by car in normal traffic outside rush hour. The yard is Yard 15 in the Clippens industrial estate, opposite Straiton retail park, and there is parking on site.
Address: Edinburgh Motorcycle Training, 15 Clippens Yard, Straiton, EH20 9NS. Open in Google Maps.
Which places near Dunbar is the yard also handy for?
The same journey works from East Linton, West Barns, Belhaven, Innerwick and Stenton.
