Is it worth travelling from Glasgow to train?
We are an Edinburgh school, and all of our training starts from Straiton on the south side of the Edinburgh bypass. We say that plainly because riders already travel a long way to train with us, and Glasgow, Lanarkshire and the M8 corridor are about an hour away.
If you are weighing up the trip, these are the facts. Group sizes are never more than 2 students to 1 instructor. Complete beginners take a short Introduction to Motorcycling before CBT, so nobody is thrown in at the deep end. A CBT includes up to 12 hours of training. And Direct Access runs to a set pattern with most training on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, which keeps time off work to a minimum.
The drive is motorway almost door to door: the M8 to Hermiston Gait, then the bypass to the Straiton junction, with parking at the yard.
How do I get to the training yard from Glasgow?
From Glasgow, take the M8 east to Hermiston Gait, then the A720 bypass to the Straiton junction. It is about 48 miles and takes about an hour by car in normal traffic outside rush hour. The yard is Yard 15 in the Clippens industrial estate, opposite Straiton retail park, and there is parking on site.

Which places near Glasgow is the yard also handy for?
The same journey works from Baillieston, Coatbridge, Airdrie, Motherwell, Cumbernauld and East Kilbride.
